LONDON, Oct. 2, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- International Game Technology PLC ("IGT PLC") (NYSE:IGT) announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, IGT Global Solutions Corporation (the "Company" and collectively with IGT PLC, "IGT"), has agreed with the California Lottery to extend its existing contract for seven years, through October 31, 2026. An IGT customer since 1986, the California Lottery is the second largest lottery in the United States, generating approximately $91.4 billion in sales, and contributing nearly $31 billion to public education since its inception in 1985.

We have assisted the Lottery in increasing sales and funds for education exponentially over the past several years, including in its most recent audited fiscal year with lottery sales of $6.276 billion and $1.587 billion returned to education," said Jay Gendron, IGT Senior Vice President, WLA North America Lottery. Under the extension, IGT will provide its industry-leading Auroratm system platform to the California Lottery, providing it with a comprehensive set of new tools and applications to support the Lottery's player and retailer base, and enhance the back-office suite. This new platform includes:
Additionally, the California Lottery will receive IGT's best-in-class equipment delivery that includes more than 19,000 Alturatm GT1200 Flex retailer terminals, offering a smaller footprint to optimize retail space, while continuing to offer a highly-configurable platform. IGT's Ticket-Scantm Plus ticket checkers allow players to easily and securely check the win status of their own instant and draw-based tickets. The Company will also deliver its Gemini Ultratm self-service lottery vending machine, offering players an easy-to-use interface and a buying experience that is intuitive and inviting. The Lottery will also receive new monitors for multimedia advertising as well as HotSpot draw shows. Certain Lottery retailers will receive IGT's patented Dual Comm Inside, comprising a combination of next-generation VSAT and cellular-based technology. Tablet-based third-party terminals will be provided to the Lottery giving them the capability to provide more terminal type devices to new and current retailers, and create new opportunities for expanding the retailer base.
The Company will continue to provide ongoing services to the Lottery such as support and maintenance of the central system, communications network, and more than 140,000 points-of-sale in over 22,000 retailer locations; field services; marketing and research services; consumables; and call center support.
