Pan-Pearl River Delta Regional Tourism Union Set up to Deepen Regional Tourism Cooperation

GUANGZHOU, China, Sept. 30, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The 2017 Pan-Pearl River Delta (PPRD) Regional Cooperation Chief Executive Joint Conference was held in Changsha on September 25. At the Conference, chief executives of nine provinces and the two Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macau together with leaders from relevant Ministries of the People's Republic of China witnessed the signing of the PPRD Regional Customs and Clearance Cooperation Agreement and the PPRD Regional Tourism Union Cooperation Agreement.

The PPRD covers nine provinces, namely, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, Sichuan, Guizhou and Yunnan, and the SARs of Hong Kong and Macau. With abundant tourism resources, the Delta has a solid foundation and enormous potential for further cooperation in regional tourism, allowing provinces and regions concerned to become tourist destinations for each other.

To uphold Guiding Opinions of the State Council on Deepening Regional Cooperation in the Pan Pearl River Delta, Circular of the State Council on the Issuance of the "13th Five-Year" Tourism Development Planning, and Joint Declaration on Deepening Regional Cooperation in the Pan-Pearl River Delta Region (2015-2025), and join forces in sharing resource and information, developing products, and expanding markets in a win-win approach, heads of tourism departments within the PPRD, Tourism Administration of Guangdong Province included, signed the PPRD Regional Tourism Union Co-operation Agreement. As per the Agreement, provinces and regions concerned will work together in seven aspects, including building the PPRD tourism brand and designing quality tourist routes, conducting overall tourism marketing strategies, promoting cooperation between the Mainland and the SAR duo, establishing a sound tourism market order, strengthening the training of tourism talents and cooperation among think tanks, and improving cooperation mechanism.

The Conference, set up in 2004, is an important platform for regional cooperation and communication approved by the State Council.

In March 2016, the Pan-Pearl River Delta Regional Cooperation was officially included into the Outline of the 13th Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development as a national strategy. That means the region will serve as a pioneer promoting reform and opening up and ecological civilization. On top of that, it will be a main engine for China's economic growth and its Belt and Road Initiative, and put Mainland-Hong Kong-Macau cooperation on a faster track.
