Veteran Owned Nine Line Apparel Partners With NFL Stars To Stand For Anthem



SAVANNAH, Ga., Sept. 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Amidst the controversy of professional athletes kneeling during the National Anthem, one company is taking a "stand" for the Star Spangled Banner. Veteran owned Nine Line Apparel has never been apologetic when it comes to expressing their patriotism and love of country, and now they are partnering with others to share their views on standing for the anthem, and what that act truly means.

"This is not meant to be divisive but to make our voice stand strong. The NFL is a brotherhood, and we are glad to see they are staying united and supporting one another, but we must do the same," said Nine Line CEO, Tyler Merritt, who recently retired as a Captain from the US Army. For those who have served in the military, the anthem is more than a song ? it is a representation of pride in our country as a united nation, and a symbol of the sacrifice so many have made in defense of it. This sentiment is not exclusive to those who have served, and many are rallying behind Nine Line's campaign to give a voice to those who refuse to kneel.

The company first responded to Colin Kaepernick's controversial kneeling last year with the launch of their "I Stand" design, an iconic image of the American flag with text that boldly states that the wearer, a Patriotic American, stands for the national anthem. The design, available on t-shirts, hoodies, and women's options, has sold over 23,000 units across the nation since its inception, a clear indication that many Americans agree with the company's sentiment.

Sedrick Ellis, former USC All-American and NFL defensive tackle for the New Orleans Saints, has joined Nine Line in this movement, along with Army veteran Jay Wheeler, a multiple amputee who lost both of his legs while serving in the military. As the campaign gains momentum, more stars continue to enlist their services to support Nine Line's cause. Though their ties to the crusade may differ, their stance is the same: to stand is to be a proud American, and we must stand united if we are to prevail.
