Friendship Circle of Montreal takes on Dr. Seuss for Walk4Frienship event being held in the Old Port of Montreal

MONTREAL, Sept. 25 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - Friendship Circle of Montreal is hosting its annual Walk4Friendship event this Sunday, October 1, registration at 11 am, at the Clock Tower Pier in the Old Port of Montreal. Friendship Circle is a charitable organization that provides children, teens, and adults with special needs a place to focus on their abilities, build friendships, and experience inclusion.

The Walk4Friendship is organized to raise awareness of the importance of an inclusive community.  This community event raises funds that are crucial to the existence of the Friendship Circle and go towards the numerous camps, after school activities and regular outings provided to those who are a part of Friendship Circle. These programs are designed to nurture participant's social, physical, and cognitive skills. Friendship Circle works individually with each family to understand their specific needs and concerns related to their child's disability. Through these programs special needs children are given the opportunity to explore their community, build friendships and interact with typical peers.

Through the Walk4Friendship fundraising event Friendship Circle plans to raise $500,000 by organizing teams and reaching out to sponsors in the community. Some of the sponsors for this year's event include RBC, Hypertec and Toyota St. Laurent to name a few.

Racheli Edelkopf who has been with Friendship Circle for over 5 years and is one of the organizers of this year's Walk4Friendship event, says "There is a lot of planning that goes into this event but it is all worth it to show our friends with special needs that the community supports them and to raise awareness for the services we provide. We are asking people to come and join us this Sunday, but we also want those who may need us to know that we are out there for them."
