Participants of the Future Energy Forum Discuss the Rules for Cooperation on Global Energy Economy Issues

ASTANA, Kazakhstan, September 6, 2017 /PRNewswire/ --

The 11th conference "International Economy and Policy in Environmental Protection" was held on August 28-29 at the International Specialized Exhibition Astana EXPO-2017.

The key issues raised at the conference included problems and political aspects of globalization, models and future sustainable development scenarios, interaction between international trade and the green economy, as well as energy market reform.

Professor Mohan Munasinghe who received the Nobel Peace Prize for his work on climate change spoke about the three bases of a global eco-civilization.

"The use of Sustainomics, i.e. balanced and consistent consideration of the three dimensions of the sustainable development triangle (social, economic and environmental), will help find the path to Balanced Inclusive Green Growth (BIGG). The second key concept is Making Development More Sustainable (MDMS). The third concept is transcending conventional sustainable development boundaries with innovation and fresh ideas, which means fostering important ethical and moral values among young people," said Munasinghe.

Speakers at the 11th Conference also included Peggy Liu, Chairperson of JUCCCE (Joint US China Collaboration on Clean Energy), the former Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Djoomart Otorbayev, Director of The Prince of Wales's Corporate Leaders Group (CLG) Jill Duggan, and Monika Griefahn, Managing Director of the Institute for Environment, Media, Culture and Chair of the Right Livelihood Award Foundation.

The British writer and TV host Vivienne Perry, who is famous for medical and scientific programs on BBC Radio 4, was a moderator at the conference.

The results of all twelve conferences will be included in the Astana EXPO-2017 Manifesto of Values and Principles.
