Nation Ford Chemical Rewarded for Environmental Excellence

FORT MILL, S.C., Sept. 5, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Nation Ford Chemical (NFC) announced that as a result of rigorous monitoring, operation and maintenance of its on-site waste water treatment plant, the company was awarded a Gold Excellence Award from the neighboring City of Rock Hill. In order to receive the gold level award, the facility must never exceed a discharge limit by even one part in a billion.

The City of Rock Hill Utilities Excellence in Pretreatment Award honors distinguished Significant Industrial Users (SIUs) who exhibit environmental stewardship by proactively preventing pollution and managing wastewater discharge. This award is part of the city's Industrial Pretreatment Program, which regulates the wastewater discharged by the Industrial Users to reduce pollution and minimize waste.

Pretreatment Award winners go beyond meeting effluent quality requirements by devoting significant time and attention to pretreatment requirements, carefully designing a pollution prevention strategy, training staff and encouraging active participation throughout the organization.

"I am very proud, but not surprised, that our company has received this award," said Jay Dickson, President. "The high expectation of responsible environmental stewardship has been set by management and is fully executed by all employees."

The City of Rock Hill stated that "Industrial Pretreatment Award winners set the standard for pollution prevention excellence. For all of the City of Rock Hill's industrial waste generators, meeting effluent quality standards typically requires more than just a properly designed, operated, and maintained pretreatment system. The City must meet stringent water quality standards set by SCDHEC and EPA to be able to discharge water into the Catawba River. Meeting these standards is possible only because City of Rock Hill's Industrial Users work together to strictly control wastewater discharge."
