Olin Partnering with American Red Cross on Hurricane Relief

CLAYTON, Mo., Sept. 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Olin Corporation announced today that it will be making a $250,000 donation to the American Red Cross in support of Hurricane Harvey disaster relief efforts.  In addition, Olin's Freeport, Texas, bleach plant has produced three truckloads of bleach?about 15,000 one-gallon bottles?which will be distributed by the American Red Cross to those affected by Hurricane Harvey.

Olin Corp. is donating more than 15,000 gallons of bleach produced at its Freeport, Texas, plant (pictured) to the American Red Cross for distribution to those affected by Hurricane Harvey.

"Having a supply of bleach on hand after these kinds of disasters is critical to helping clean up and disinfect impacted areas," said John Sampson, Olin's Senior Vice President of Business Operations. "This is the best way we can help our neighbors right now, especially as many of our own employees who live and work in the Freeport and Houston areas have been affected as well."

Bleach bottling services were donated in part by KIK Custom Products in Houston.

Olin is the No. 1 global chlor-alkali producer and the No. 1 seller of chlorine and bleach in North America. Olin's Freeport bleach plant just opened in March of this year on the site of the company's largest chemical production facility, which has also been in the path of the hurricane.

Olin has a long-standing history of providing bleach in times of disaster, including a donation last year to victims of the Baton Rouge flooding, a 2014 donation in partnership with World Vision and the American Chemistry Council to Sierra Leone during the Ebola crisis, and in 2010 to those impacted by flooding in Nashville, Tenn.

Olin's Freeport facility has 24 manufacturing units and employs nearly 1,200 people. The facility produces chlorine and a broad portfolio of products used every day in water treatment, health care, textiles, food processing, plastics, telecommunications, space and technology and more.  Olin also has a corporate office in Houston that employs about 80.
