Keep Long Weekend Celebrations Safe -- Drive Sober
OAKVILLE, ON--(Marketwired - August 31, 2017) - MADD Canada and Allstate Insurance Company of Canada are asking everyone to make safe and sober transportation a priority as they celebrate the last long weekend of summer.
No one ever thinks they will be affected by impaired driving, but hundreds of people are killed and tens of thousands are injured in impairment-related crashes every year.
"We're asking everyone to do their part to prevent impaired driving this holiday weekend," said MADD Canada National President Patricia Hynes-Coates. "Please plan ahead for a safe and sober ride home."
MADD Canada and its volunteers across the country work with community partners and generous corporate sponsors such as Allstate Insurance Company of Canada to remind Canadians they can prevent impaired driving by:
- Never driving a car, boat, ATV or any other vehicle while impaired;
- Never riding with a driver who is impaired;
- Calling 911 to report suspected impaired drivers.
"Impaired driving takes a devastating toll on individuals, families and communities," said Allstate Canada President and CEO Ryan Michel. "But that does not have to be the case. If everyone plans ahead and makes responsible choices, we can celebrate the last long weekend of summer without the tragedy of impaired driving."
