SelfHelpWorks Redefines Healthy Changes in Workplace Through Groundbreaking Science

SAN DIEGO, July 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- It seems you can't read business headlines these days without coming across workplace wellness statistics or new wellness programs. Not all programs, though, offer real results, and SelfHelpWorks is hoping to change that with their scientifically based online health coaching programs for employees.

The Difference Research Makes

Workplace wellness programs need far more than a gym membership or a video about healthy eating to be successful. They also require solutions that show people how to resist the urge to engage in unhealthy behaviors, and that's where SelfHelpWorks is so different from other wellness programs.

"We use a proprietary Cognitive Behavioral Training at the base of every online course we develop. The truth is that behavior begins in the mind, not the body, so we go beneath the surface to address the problem right at its root. That's why our courses produce lasting behavior change rather than a quick fix," said Lou Ryan, behavior change expert and founder of SelfHelpWorks.

The results are astonishing, too. In a university study, participants in SelfHelpWorks' LivingFree tobacco cessation program experienced three times the success rate of the control group, a recognized national smoking cessation program.  And in a large-scale case study with the LeavingLean Weight Management Course, 53% of participants decreased their body mass index by more than 5% - with those who were obese dropping their BMI by an average 12%. Other programs offer similar results. The LivingSmart Alcohol Management program had 53% of participants reporting reduced levels of alcohol consumption.

Meeting The Goal

The numbers are clear - health problems in the workplace do cost money ? both in lost productivity and increased health spend. Luckily, though, with online interventions like the ones SelfHelpWorks offers, it's possible to lower those costs.

"We're producing unmatched real-world outcomes with participant feedback that consistently reflects the success shown in studies. It's something we're really pleased to be offering to employers of all sizes," said Ryan.

When lasting behavior change is the goal, the science behind SelfHelpWorks is clearly the way to create that change.
