ActiveYards(R) Helps Promote Respite for Veteran's with Donation to Travis Mills Foundation Retreat Project

GALLOWAY, NJ--(Marketwired - June 27, 2017) - ActiveYards, a subsidiary brand of Barrette Outdoor Living, is giving back to the community with a donation of raw fence materials to the Travis Mills Foundation. After learning of the group's request for donations to create a special retreat for U.S. veterans, the company was eager to help.

In 2012, Army Staff Sergeant Travis Mills lost all four limbs to an IED during his third deployment to Afghanistan. Inspired to help fellow wounded warriors, he established a nonprofit group called the Travis Mills Foundation. For the past year, Mills and his staff have been working with many volunteers and donors to transform an old estate property in Rome, Maine into a peaceful haven that will host combat-injured veterans and their families. The new multimillion dollar facility provides a way to give back to the men and women who bravely serve our country by creating a sanctuary where they can spend time with their loved ones. It is scheduled to open summer of 2017.

"When we learned about this project, the team at ActiveYards was touched by Travis Mill's story and felt compelled to help in any way we could. We take pride in our products and work, but being able to contribute to an amazing cause for well deserving veterans is a real honor. It is the least we can do to thank our nation's soldiers for their service to our country," said Mark Moulton, Director of Sales for ActiveYards.

The opportunity to help the veteran community was presented to ActiveYards by Pine Tree Fence of Litchfield, Maine. Pine Tree Fence, a retailer of ActiveYard's distributor Big Fish Fence Supply, Inc., coordinated the efforts and donated all installation services. "The staff of Pine Tree Fence are excited to support the Travis Mills Foundation by doing our small part in making this beautiful old building come back to life," said Wayde Rankin, President of Pine Tree Fence. "This is a beautiful facility for our wounded veteran's and their families to come to. It is great to see Travis' vision coming to life."
