Mark it Read Shines a Light on Dyslexia in Canada
IG Wealth Management joins Dyslexia Canada for inaugural campaign to support International Dyslexia Awareness Month
TORONTO, Oct. 12, 2018 /CNW/ - Dyslexia Canada, with the proud support of IG Wealth Management, is pleased to announce the launch of Mark it Read - a national campaign designed to raise awareness and support the 10-20 per cent of Canadian children living with dyslexia. To bring the challenges these children have in school to life, this campaign will light buildings and monuments across Canada red throughout October, which is International Dyslexia Awareness Month.
"For school-aged children that are struggling with this often-hereditary disability, the teacher's red pen striking through their assignments is a reminder of their inability to keep up with their peers. Our goal with the Mark it Read campaign is to support these children and drive positive change in the classroom that will help level the playing field for children with dyslexia," said Keith Gray, Chair of Dyslexia Canada.
Dyslexia is a specific learning disability in reading and writing. People with dyslexia have trouble reading accurately and fluently and may also have trouble with spelling and writing. Dyslexia Canada is on a mission to establish legislation in each Canadian province to identity children early and ensure mandatory remediation in schools.
