U Of M And MSU Alumni Football Players Join Former Detroit Lions Star Kicker Eddie Murray For Field Goal Kicks And Activities On The Detroit Lions Field At VIP Mentoring's Coaches For Kids Maize 'N' Green Tailgate Fundraiser At Ford Field Thursday, October 18, 2018 Beginning At 5:30pm

DETROIT, Oct. 11, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Former Detroit Lions star kicker Eddie Murray will join various University of Michigan and Michigan State University alumni football players, including U of M's Jamie Morris and MSU's Keith Nichol, and event guests for field goal kicks, football target passes, and other activities on the Detroit Lions field at the Coaches for Kids Maize 'N' Green Tailgate at Ford Field in Detroit on Thursday, October 18, 2018 beginning at 5:30pm.  

The event will begin in Ford Field's Atrium with a "maize" and "green" football tailgate format including dinner, cocktails, a silent and live auction, a "Hall of Fame" presentation, and introductions of the MSU and U of M alumni football players.  Eddie Murray, Lear Corporation, VIP Mentoring alumna Chenae Able, and Utica Leaseco President David Levy will be inducted into VIP Mentoring's "Hall of Fame" in recognition of their support and contributions to the event and to the metropolitan Detroit community. 

Following the speaking program, guests will go down onto the Detroit Lions field for activities. Eddie Murray will show guests how to kick field goals.  Additional activities include a football target pass, another kicking game, a photo station, and the opportunity to meet & greet various MSU and U of M alumni football players.

Detroit Lions legend Lem Barney will also be present.  Former WDIV reporter and WBNS-10TV meteorologist Ashlee Baracy will serve as the master of ceremonies.  The event also celebrates mentoring and coaching. 

The event's Presenting Sponsor is Lear Corporation, and other major sponsors include Ford Motor Company Fund and other businesses.  This is the seventh year of the event, with the dollars raised going directly to the VIP Mentoring program.  VIP Mentoring, which is in its 38^th year, provides mentors and programs for at-risk youth in Detroit.
