The Government of Canada supports climate action in communities to protect the environment and grow the economy

OTTAWA, Oct. 11, 2018 /CNW/ - Clean water and clean air for all Canadians are a priority for the Government of Canada. By investing to protect and conserve nature, we are ensuring communities across the country can tackle climate change and grow the economy for a healthy and prosperous future for our kids and grandkids.

Today, the Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Catherine McKenna, announced $4.3 million to support 58 new EcoAction Community Funding Program projects across Canada. This funding will support concrete local action to help fight and adapt to climate change as well as educate and engage Canadians in preserving and conserving water.

Today, the Government of Canada is announcing $100,000 for BC Sustainable Energy Association's Cool It! Climate Leadership Training program as part of the EcoAction Community Funding Program. This project will encourage and empower high school students and their families to reduce their ecological footprint by delivering interactive environmental workshops on climate change and solutions for sustainability.

Also, the World Wildlife Fund will receive $100,000 for its clean water project, which aims to improve water quality in the Great Lakes Basin by reducing excessive winter salt application on roads.
