Allan O'Dette named new Chief Executive Officer of the Ontario Medical Association


TORONTO, Oct. 10, 2018 /CNW/ - The Board of Directors of the Ontario Medical Association is pleased to announce that Allan O'Dette has been named as its new Chief Executive Officer effective November 1, 2018.

An accomplished executive with more than 30 years' experience in the public, private, not-for-profit and volunteer sectors, Allan brings to the OMA a proven track record of success leading change and organizational renewal.

Allan served as CEO of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce for six years where he led a revitalization of the Chamber to become one of the most influential business membership organizations in Ontario. Previous to joining the OMA, he served as Ontario's first Chief Investment Officer, creating a customer-focused, cross-functional enterprise generating billions of dollars in new investment to the province. Allan's career has also included roles in marketing, government relations, external relations and public affairs in the life sciences sector.

Allan is well-versed in health system issues having served for the past six years on the board of Markham Stouffville Hospital, and was a member of Leadership Sinai. Allan formerly served the OMA in a volunteer capacity as Co-Chair of the Ontario Medical Student Bursary Fund Golf Tournament which raised nearly $1 million over five years to support medical students in financial need.

Allan holds an MBA from the Rotman School of Business and an ICD.D Designation, Institute of Corporate Directors from the University of Toronto.
