Former Refrigeration Apprentice Progresses to Highest Engineering Grade at Star Refrigeration

BRISTOL, England, Oct. 9, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- An engineer from one of the UK's leading refrigeration manufacturing companies is celebrating after achieving Star Technician (ST) ?level 5. Neil Ryemill, who joined Star Refrigeration as an apprentice, is an inspiration for other young engineers in the industry with an ambition to progress to the top of the career ladder.

Mr Ryemill is now on the highest skills and pay level for refrigeration and heating engineers after receiving ongoing training since taking an apprentice role at Star Refrigeration in 1996.

James Ward, Operations Director of Star Refrigeration said, "Congratulations to one of our longstanding and talented service and maintenance engineers on reaching the top engineering competence and paygrade ? it is truly deserved. I'd like to highlight the progression opportunities within the company, which many of our employees are taking advantage of. At Star, hard work is always rewarded and that's why 15 is the average number of years our high graded engineers stay with us. Neil is a valued part of the team and it is great to see his achievements recognised."

Mr Ryemill is part of the Star Refrigeration Operations Group team, which provides 24 hour assistance and technical support for businesses all over the UK. The nationwide network of engineers provides maintenance, servicing, contracting and spares and this arm of the business accounts for around half of Star Refrigeration's total revenue.

When interviewed about his career journey from ST1 to ST5 Neil said the biggest challenges have been completing fast track install and commissioning jobs over the past few years. He said, "I progressed from ST3 to ST4 in 2008 after commissioning a large install at a major dairy in Bridgwater. This job included extensive PLC testing on and off site and seeing the job through from start to finish over 4 to 6 months."

"My best advice to anyone wishing to progress in the refrigeration industry would be to take up any opportunity to work within different engineering departments ? from sales, consultancy, design, manufacture, project management to commissioning. From my experience you learn so much about all aspects of the refrigeration business but most importantly, about the customer and their needs."

James Ward said, "It just goes to show what an apprentice can go on to achieve with the right training. We're always on the lookout for fresh engineering talent and apprentices, so if you'd like to work for one of the UK's largest refrigeration and heating engineering companies, visit our website's career page to apply."

Star is currently hiring refrigeration engineers in Aberdeen, Glasgow, Newcastle, Leeds, Derby, Bristol, Oxford, London, Norfolk and Suffolk. If you want to advance your engineering career then register your interest here: http://www.star-ref.co.uk/careers-in-industrial-refrigeration.aspx
