Make This Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend a Safe One ? Drive Sober
OAKVILLE, Ontario, Oct. 05, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- As Canadians prepare to celebrate this Thanksgiving holiday weekend, MADD Canada and Allstate Insurance Company of Canada are asking everyone to do their part to prevent impaired driving by planning ahead for a safe and sober ride home.
"Whether you're attending Thanksgiving celebrations at the home of a loved one, or hosting a gathering yourself, please be sure to plan ahead for safe and sober transportation," said MADD Canada National President Patricia Hynes-Coates. "If you or your guests are drinking alcohol or consuming drugs, leave the driving to someone sober."
Impaired driving continues to be a leading criminal cause of death in Canada, claiming hundreds of lives each year.
MADD Canada and Allstate Insurance Company of Canada partner to raise awareness about the risks of impaired driving and encourage Canadians to protect themselves and one another:
- don't drive impaired ? call an Uber, call a cab, take public transit, arrange a designated driver or plan to stay overnight;
- don't ride with drivers who are impaired;
- if you see a driver you suspect is impaired, call 911 and report it to police.
