Media Advisory - Chez Doris Day Shelter for Women Announces the Impact of the Most Significant Gift in its History

MONTREAL, Oct. 5, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - On Friday, October 5, 2018, Chez Doris will hold a traditional Thanksgiving lunch, which will bring together both women who benefit from Chez Doris and Mr. Andrew Harper, our largest donor to date. This lunch will also be an opportunity to announce the development of a major project for the organization. This milestone succeeds the announcement of a $1 million donation by Andrew Harper announced on May 5, 2018. This donation represents the largest private donation ever received by the organization that helps women in vulnerable situations in Montreal.

The Thanksgiving lunch will begin with a speech from Executive Director, Marina Boulos-Winton, to thank Andrew Harper for his donation and to unveil the development of a major project.

About Chez Doris
Chez Doris offers services and programs to provide for women's most basic and immediate needs related to coping with homelessness, poverty, mental illness and/or addictions. It is the only women's day shelter in Montréal open 7 days a week, from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Services include: breakfast and lunch; access to showers, hygienic products, and a clothing depot; emergency food bags; 6 respite beds; telephone information and referral assistance; custodial services and a financial management program; an Inuit assistance program; an Aboriginal housing program; health and mental health services; legal & tax filing services; as well as educational and socio-recreational integration programs. Chez Doris receives up to 100 women per day, which represents approximately 26,000 visits per year, and provides more than 37,000 meals annually. www.chezdoris.org.
