tarte cosmetics launches its first-ever #kissandmakeup school tour in support of October's National Bullying Prevention Month

NEW YORK, Oct. 1, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- tarte cosmetics, in partnership with the Tyler Clementi Foundation (The Tyler Clementi Foundation), is taking its anti-bullying #kissandmakeup initiative on the road for a first-ever nationwide school tour to support October's National Bullying Prevention month. Kicking off October 2 in LA & ending October 30 in NYC, the tour will hit six major US cities with social media influencer meet & greets.

#kissandmakeup's mission helps spread awareness to end cyber-bullying while promoting kindness online. tarte formed #kissandmakeup in 2016 after founder & CEO Maureen Kelly witnessed the negative effects of social media on both tarte's social platforms and within her own family. Since the launch, #kissandmakeup has received overwhelming support from social media influencers and tarte's 8.5 million followers on Instagram alike.  After the strong support for National Kiss and Makeup day earlier this year (August 25th), tarte is taking the initiative to the next level by bringing it directly to the school system.

#kissandmakeup is just one initiative tarte stands behind & part of the reason it formed its 501(c)(3) non-profit, heart to tarte, which was started in 2017 as a way for tarte to give back.

"I'm so passionate about #kissandmakeup because I've seen the effects of bullying & cyber-bullying first hand?no one is immune & I want to use our platform to spread kindness. Giving back has always been a part of tarte's brand DNA, and with the #kissandmakeup school tour, we want to continue spreading this message of kindness & positivity, on and off the screen. I want kids to know they aren't alone & provide a safe space to talk about it in schools," says Maureen Kelly, founder and CEO of tarte cosmetics.

Cyber-bullying is an epidemic and with the support of social media influencers and The Tyler Clementi Foundation (The Tyler Clementi Foundation), tarte will offer solutions and share how social media can be a powerful tool to spread positivity and do good.

"Someone once said to me, 'Hurting people, hurt people,' and it's a saying that I'll always remember. When people bully others, they're really speaking to their own insecurities," says lifestyle influencer @alisha.

Throughout the month of October, tarte will partner with top social media influencers to lead the conversation at each school including @rclbeauty101, @rebeccazamolo, @missremiashten, @griffinarnlund, @niasioux, @nabela, and @alisha. All influencers will speak to how they use social media for positive messaging and their commitment to the battle against bullying, not only during National Bullying Prevention month, but every day.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to be a part of a program with a cause near and dear to my heart. I'm a huge fan of tarte and their values as a brand, which aligns perfectly with the messaging I share on my platform to spread positivity. Joining the #kissandmakeup school tour is an honor and I'm so excited to meet all the young students," said @missremiashten.

The Assembly Rundown:

tarte cosmetics will discuss how it stands up to cyber bullying as a brand ? i.e. the kiss mark emoji call-to-action that was launched on this year's National Kiss and Makeup day. The influencers will continue the conversation and share personal stories.  After a Q&A, tarte will engage with the students via various activations including a meet & greet with influencer(s), participating in the Tyler Clementi Foundation Upstander wall where students are encouraged to write positive affirmations (that tarte will leave at the school as a daily reminder to be kind), tagging the school with post-its that students write positive notes on?and much more!
