J&P Cycles Invests in New PTSD Treatment for Vets

IRVING, Texas, Oct. 1, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Motorcycle products retailer J&P Cycles is enabling customers to invest in Wind Therapy, a treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) offered through 22Kill, a non-profit dedicated to traditional and non-traditional support for U.S. Military veterans.

Wind Therapy, a non-traditional treatment for PTSD, allows participants to find support from other vets while learning motorcycle riding and maintenance skills. Irvine TX-based J&P Cycles is encouraging customers to support the program in their stores and online through Veterans Day on November 11, 2018.

J&P Cycles will encourage customers on its web site and in its stores to "round up" their purchase from now through Veterans Day on November 11, 2018. The company will match all customer donations and expects the total donation will exceed $10,000.

Wind therapy is a colloquial term in motorcycling for the calming effects of a motorcycle ride. It's also the moniker for 22Kill's unique approach to managing the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder. It includes participation in motorcycle rider training, maintenance classes, and peer group construction of custom motorcycles for veterans. The intent is to provide veterans with motorcycle experiences and peer interaction to stall the effects of PTSD.

"We are enabling our customers to join us in supporting Wind Therapy for vets because it allows us to share our passion for motorcycling in the best way possible," said Zach Parham, president of J&P Cycles. "We intend to establish J&P Cycles as an organization which helps veterans at every possible opportunity. Our investment in this partnership with 22Kill is just the start of this effort."

"Our relationship with J&P Cycles is important to the thousands of veterans that our organization touches. J&P Cycles' customers now have an easy way to change the life of these American heroes. We believe they will deliver in a big way," said Jake Schick, CEO of 22Kill.

Several veterans are currently participating in the Wind Therapy program. Their stories are captured in a video produced by J&P Cycles to encourage customers to "round up" their purchase. #windtherapyforvets
