MONROE, La., Oct. 1, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of its ongoing commitment to the communities it serves, CenturyLink, Inc. (NYSE: CTL) today announced that applications are now being accepted for the CenturyLink Clarke M. Williams Foundation's Teachers and Technology grant program. With education at the forefront of the Foundation's focus, the program is designed to help teachers bring technology into their respective classrooms to increase student achievement.
Eligibility for grants extends to all pre-K through 12th grade teachers in public, private and/or charter schools located in either a CenturyLink residential service area or a core corporate location in the United States (Ouachita Parish, La.; Johnson County, Kan.; Tulsa County, Okla. or St. Louis County, Mo.). Applicants have the chance to receive grants of up to $5,000 to implement innovative technology solutions in their classrooms.
"CenturyLink understands how important it is to have technology in today's classrooms," said Sondra Smith, CenturyLink corporate social responsibility director. "More than ever, our students need to be exposed to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) concepts, and our teachers need the right tools to be able to reach them. We are proud to offer these grants to help deserving teachers enhance students' learning experience in the classroom."
Launched in 2008, the CenturyLink Teachers and Technology program has awarded more than $8 million in grants.
Grant winners ? ranging from $500 to $5,000 per award ? will be announced between April 1 and May 15, 2019.
For the 2017-2018 school year, nearly 2,000 grant applications were submitted and more than 300 grants were awarded based on each project's overall innovation and anticipated positive impact on student achievement in the classroom.
