Freedom of the City granted to the Institution of Port-Cartier's 30 years of correctional services

PORT-CARTIER, QC, Sept. 21, 2018 /CNW/ - On September 19, 2018, Port-Cartier officially granted the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) "Freedom of the City", a rare privilege given to valued members or groups dedicated to protecting the community with historic ties to the area. In this case, the honour represents Port-Cartier's appreciation of CSC's long-standing and dedicated service within the community.

In the spirit of tradition, the Regional Deputy Commissioner for the region of Quebec, Alessandria Page, the Assistant Deputy Commissioner Operations, the Ceremonial Guard, the Flag party, Port-Cartier's Warden, correctional officers, employees, retired employees, volunteers and partners marched to City Hall. Upon arriving, the Regional Deputy Commissioner formally requested Freedom of the City from Alain Thibault, Mayor of Port-Cartier. After a line inspection of staff, Mayor Thibault granted Freedom of the City.

CSC will continue to ensure the safety and security of all Canadian communities by helping offenders rehabilitate their lives and reintegrate as law-abiding citizens into the community.
