The Los Angeles Film School Announces Alumni Success At The 2018 Emmys
LOS ANGELES, Sept. 21, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Los Angeles Film School (LAFS) had more than 15 alumni who worked on Emmy-winning shows that were honored at the 70th annual Primetime Emmy Awards. The Emmys, hosted by Michael Che and Colin Jost, aired on Monday, September 17, on NBC.
Additionally, one of the school's alumni won the Emmy for Outstanding Sound Editing For A Comedy Or Drama Series (One Hour) for "Stranger Things" at this year's annual 70th Creative Arts Emmy Awards. This alumnus won the same award last year for the first season of "Stranger Things."
Each year, LAFS alumni continue to work on an increasing number of award-winning projects across nearly every facet of the entertainment industry, including films, television series, albums and more. This year, 17 alumni worked on six productions that won a total of 27 Emmy awards including:
- "Saturday Night Live" won eight Emmy awards, including Outstanding Variety Sketch Series
- "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel" won eight Emmy awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series
- "Barry" won three Emmy awards, including Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Comedy Or Drama Series (Half-Hour) And Animation
- "Glow" won two Emmy awards, including Outstanding Production Design For A Narrative Program (Half-Hour Or Less)
- "Westworld" won four Emmys, including Outstanding Creative Achievement In Interactive Media Within A Scripted Program
- "Stranger Things" won an Emmy for Outstanding Sound Editing For A Comedy Or Drama Series (One Hour)
Since 1949, the Emmys have celebrated television's top talent by recognizing creators, writers, actors and directors at their craft. This year, the 70th Annual Emmy Awards celebrated the most diverse group of nominees in Emmy history. Sandra Oh was the first woman of Asian descent to be nominated for an Emmy, RuPaul from "RuPaul's Drag Race" won for Outstanding Reality-Competition, and the Television Academy crowned Regina King as Lead Actress in a Limited Series or TV Movie for her role in "Seven Seconds."
