The Mattachine Society of Washington DC to present preview of upcoming Nicole Kidman/Russell Crowe feature "Boy Erased" at National Press Club Headliners Event Oct. 12

WASHINGTON, Sept. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- In celebration of LGBT History Month, The Mattachine Society of Washington DC will present a sneak preview of the upcoming Nicole Kidman/Russell Crowe feature "Boy Erased," and a conversation with the film's real-life subjects, Martha Conley and her son Garrard at a National Press Club Headliners Film Screening & Discussion at 6:30 p.m., Friday, October 12.

"Boy Erased" (set to be released in theaters by Focus Features on November 2) is based on Garrard Conley's memoir (Riverhead Books, 2016), and tells his story (played by Lucas Hedges), as the son of a Baptist pastor from small town Arkansas, forced into a conversion therapy program after being outed to his parents (Kidman/ Crowe) at age 19.

Martha and Garrard will share their inspiring story of survival and love following a second short first person feature on their experience - and discuss their support for The Mattachine Society's call for a nationwide ban on the controversial practice of conversion therapy.

This event begins at 6:30 p.m. in the Club's Conference Rooms. Tickets are $5 for National Press Club members (members may purchase two tickets at this rate) and $10 for the general public. Please click here to purchase tickets.

The National Press Club is located on the 13th Floor of the National Press Building at 529 14th St., NW, Washington, D.C.
