Teamwork, Time Management, and Presentation Workshops Highlight ABC Life Literacy Canada's Celebration of Essential Skills Day
TORONTO, Sept. 20, 2018 /CNW/ - Today marks the 9th annual Essential Skills Day, a day set aside to raise awareness of the nine essential skills and the importance of workplace literacy and essential skills training. In celebration of Essential Skills Day, ABC Life Literacy Canada has released three new workshops to add to the UP Skills for Work employability skills program.
The UP Skills for Work program focuses on the nine key employability skills that hiring managers look for. These skills help workers be more adaptable and motivated in their current roles and as they move into new roles. The nine employability skills include: Attitude, Accountability, Motivation, Teamwork, Presentation, Time Management, Stress Management, Adaptability, and Confidence.
Last year on Essential Skills Day, ABC Life Literacy Canada ? with the support of founding sponsors Great-West Life, London Life and Canada Life ? launched UP Skills for Work with workshops on the topics of Attitude, Accountability and Motivation. The program was designed to help learners develop key employability skills to enable them to become adaptable in rapidly changing workplace environments. In the past year, over 300 UP Skills for Work workshops were delivered across Canada, helping over 4,400 learners increase their employability skills.

"In consultation with our community partners, we identified a need for employability skills training for those seeking employment as well as those currently employed. Through UP Skills for Work, Canadians are building their employability skills helping them to become more confident and resilient in their jobs."
ABC Life Literacy is pleased to introduce French workshops and resources as well as the release of the next three workshops in the UP Skills for Work program: Teamwork, Presentation and the highly anticipated Time Management.

We anticipate another eventful year of UP Skills for Work and look forward to connecting with community organizations and workplaces across Canada to deliver workshops. In 2019, three additional workshops will be added to the series: Adaptability, Confidence, and another hot button issue, Stress Management.
