State of Alabama Awards ThreatAdvice Cybersecurity Education Contract

BIRMINGHAM, Ala., Sept. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- ThreatAdvice, a provider of cybersecurity education, awareness and threat intelligence, has been awarded a contract to provide cybersecurity education and awareness to State of Alabama employees. The State of Alabama will use ThreatAdvice's learning management system to deliver cybersecurity education and training to over 30,000 state employees. ThreatAdvice will also assist in conducting phishing simulations on state employees to ensure that they are able to discern potential malicious emails that could serve to compromise sensitive information.

"We wanted to be proactive in educating state employees on potential cyber threats and to ensure that they know how to respond appropriately if faced with a potential threat," said Ryan Allen, CISO for the State of Alabama. "More and more we have seen municipality and government organizations compromised by cyber threats. Our employees are our first line of defense and we want to take appropriate steps to arm them with the knowledge needed to fight back against potential cyber-attacks," he said.

"As a business owner and longtime Alabama resident, I am proud to see my state taking an increased proactive stance to fight against cyber-attacks and to protect state data and the data of our citizens," said David Brasfield, CEO of ThreatAdvice. "ThreatAdvice is excited to be able to work with the State of Alabama to increase their workforce's overall cybersecurity awareness," he said.

Under the terms of the agreement, other state and local entities within Alabama may be eligible to purchase cybersecurity education and awareness for their employees through the purchasing arrangement between the State of Alabama and ThreatAdvice.

"ThreatAdvice has experience working with many governments and municipalities and we welcome the opportunity to share our expertise and tools with others," said Brasfield. "From our experience, we have even developed a special education module that is focused just on cybersecurity education for municipalities," he said.
