Canadian Public Relations Society and Humber College embark on new partnership featuring first of its kind academic appointment


Eileen Tobey, APR, FCPRS LM joins the School of Media Studies & Information Technology as CPRS Senior Fellow in Residence

TORONTO, Sept. 19, 2018 /CNW/ - Humber Institute of Technology & Advanced Learning has appointed Eileen Tobey, APR, FCPRS LM as the Canadian Public Relations Society's Senior Fellow in Residence, as part of a yearlong pilot. The new partnership, a first between a Canadian educational institution and communications association, will offer students and faculty a source of real-world expertise and guidance, while incorporating CPRS' vision of maintaining the highest standards and ethics in professional practice into the curriculum.

Currently the Founder and CEO of Toronto-based beSPEAK Communications, Tobey brings more than 30 years of experience to the role, including senior leadership positions at Cohn & Wolfe Canada, ETC Communications and Burson-Marsteller Canada. Other resumé highlights include education from both Queen's and Harvard Universities, as well as board appointments serving University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management and the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. She received her APR (Accredited in Public Relations) designation in 1991 and has been a member of the College of Fellows since 2006.

Since 2000, the CPRS College of Fellows has recognized CPRS members who have proven themselves to be leaders in public relations and communications and demonstrated a significant contribution to the profession and to the Canadian Public Relations Society. Currently, there are 127 members in the College of Fellows, as well as 18 Honorary Fellows.
