AdvantAge Ontario and AGE-WELL to Collaborate to Improve Members' Access to New Technology

Toronto, Sept. 17, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- To improve its members' access to new technology and innovation, AdvantAge Ontario is pleased to announce a new collaboration with AGE-WELL, Canada's technology and aging network.

AdvantAge Ontario members ? which include not-for-profit long term care homes (municipal, charitable, and non-profit nursing homes), housing, and community services ? are increasingly seeing more and more seniors with multiple, complex health needs. As the number of seniors in Ontario is expected to double to 4.6 million by 2041, the demands on the health care system will only continue to increase and strain an already challenged system.

Through this collaboration, AGE-WELL will be able to reach out to the AdvantAge Ontario membership, which consists of approximately 400 not-for-providers of senior care throughout the province. This will allow AGE-WELL's researchers to work directly with additional care homes, housing, and community agencies to research and pilot innovations that will ultimately improve the health and quality of life of older adults.

"Our members have a rich history of innovation, and they are always open to exploring new ways to improve care for seniors," says Lisa Levin, AdvantAge Ontario CEO. "This collaboration will help our members tap into the AGE-WELL network to further improve care."

"AGE-WELL is dedicated to the development and delivery of technologies, services and policies/practices that benefit all older adults as well as their caregivers," adds Alex Mihailidis, Scientific Director, AGE-WELL. "We look forward to connecting with AdvantAge Ontario members. This opportunity will give our researchers excellent feedback on their research and innovation, particularly related to seniors with more advanced, complex health needs."
