USANA's True Health Foundation provides life-saving disaster relief in wake of Hurricane Florence

SALT LAKE CITY, Sept. 17, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The USANA True Health Foundation (THF), has deployed meals and volunteers to the east coast of the United States to provide aid for those affected by Hurricane Florence. THF, in partnership with International Relief Teams, has issued a grant of $41,000 to provide emergency meals for those not able to return to their homes and who do not have the means to provide for their families during the storm.

"Since its founding, the THF has always made a concerted effort to provide aid and volunteers for disaster relief. Once we saw Hurricane Florence forming off the east coast, we knew we had to prepare for the worst," said Brian Paul, President of THF.  "It was imperative that we were to act quickly, and providing 5,400 MRE's (meals ready to eat) is just a start. Additionally, we are so grateful to be able to tap in to USANA's global network of sales Associates to find volunteers willing to help. Additionally, THF is working with its partners to collect a surplus of food and supplies to send once the storm has ceased. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone in the disaster area."

Hurricane Florence reached category 4 intensity on September 10th and made landfall in North Carolina on September 14th as a category 1 hurricane. Florence is now the wettest tropical cyclone to hit the Carolinas with millions of residents displaced from their homes.

"We are all truly devastated to see the pain and destruction that Hurricane Florence has caused," said Kevin Guest, USANA's chief executive officer. "I am so thankful that we have the resources to provide aid to those on the east coast and we will continue to assist in the coming weeks and months. We are grateful for the generosity of our Associates and other donors, which enables us to send resources and aid throughout the world."

Founded in 2012, the THF has donated over $3 million in aid (immediate disaster relief, feeding programs, etc.), including relief to Houston, Puerto Rico, and Mexico following 2017's devastating hurricane season.
