OTTAWA, Sept. 17, 2018 /CNW/ - The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, today announced the appointment of Nathalie Théberge as Vice-Chair and Chief Executive Officer of the Copyright Board of Canada. In this role, Ms. Théberge will lead the work of the Board as well as supervise and direct Board staff. She will assume her position on October 1, 2018, for a five-year term.

We are confident that these appointments will bring renewed efficiency and a balanced approach to serving the interests of both copyright owners and users of copyrighted material.

The Government of Canada's appointment process is based on openness and transparency to ensure that highly qualified candidates who reflect Canada's diversity are appointed, including equal gender representation
