PPSC welcomes the new Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions
OTTAWA, Sept. 13, 2018 /CNW/ - The Director of Public Prosecutions, Kathleen Roussel, is pleased to announce that the Governor in Council has appointed David Antonyshyn as PPSC's new Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions effective November 1, 2018.
David comes from National Defence where he held the position of Deputy Judge Advocate General responsible for military justice since July 2017. Throughout his 20-year legal career supporting National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces, he held increasingly senior executive level positions in various areas of practice, including Director of International and Operational Law, Director of Military Personnel Law, and Assistant Director of Military Prosecutions.
David was called to the Barreau du Québec in 1996. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the Université de Montréal and a Masters of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of Ottawa, focusing on international criminal, humanitarian, and human rights law.
Ms. Roussel is also pleased to announce the re-appointment of George Dolhai as Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, effective May 3, 2019, providing continuity to the organization.
The Public Prosecution Service of Canada is responsible for prosecuting offences under federal jurisdiction in a manner that is free of any improper influence and that respects the public interest. The PPSC is also responsible for providing prosecution-related advice to law enforcement agencies across Canada.
