Funding to improve water quality and roads in Saskatchewan's small communities


46 projects to modernize local infrastructure across the province

SASKATOON, Sept. 11, 2018 /CNW/ - The governments of Canada and Saskatchewan recognize that local infrastructure investments are key to economic growth, improving people's quality of life and creating good middle-class jobs.

Today, the Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Infrastructure and Communities, and the Honourable Warren Kaeding, Minister of Government Relations, announced more than $53.9 million in joint federal-provincial funding for 46 Saskatchewan projects through the Small Communities Fund.  

Funding for these projects will help upgrade and expand water and wastewater systems, and enhance local roads. The completed work will contribute to building better communities and deliver on local needs.

More than $80.9 million in combined federal, provincial and local recipient funding will be invested in local projects across Saskatchewan.

Funding to improve water quality and roads in Saskatchewan's small communities

The governments of Canada and Saskatchewan will each provide more than $26.9 million toward 46 infrastructure projects across the province under the New Building Canada Plan's Small Communities Fund (SCF). More than $80.9 million in combined federal, provincial and local community funding will be invested. Funding recipients will be responsible for any remaining costs. The SCF provides support for priority infrastructure projects that deliver on local needs in communities across Canada with fewer than 100,000 residents.
