Make-A-Wish Quebec to host 48-HOUR RIDE this weekend

Cycling event will raise money to help create life-changing wishes for
children with critical illnesses

MONTREAL, Sept. 11, 2018 /CNW/ - From Sept. 14 to 16, more than 1,500 cyclists will take over the ICAR track, and part of the Montreal-Mirabel main tarmac, for the 12th annual 48-HOUR RIDE in support of Make-A-Wish® Quebec.

Under the honorary presidency of Alexandre Taillefer, the 48-HOUR RIDE is the largest annual fundraiser for Make-A-Wish Quebec. Since 2007, more than $11 million dollars has been raised to help grant the wishes of children with critical illnesses in the region.

"The popularity of the 48-HOUR RIDE is ever growing," says Pierre Thériault, founder and executive producer of the 48-HOUR RIDE. "This year, we are reaching new heights with 271 teams registered for the event that has team spirit, engagement and networking at its core."

Five-year-old Ariane, honorary president of the event, will be present every day to encourage the cyclists. "After months of treatment, my wish came true and I had an amazing week with my family," she says. "Thanks to this event, other kids will also have that chance."

Éloïse Beaupré and Raphaël Paquette, two young adults whose wishes were granted by Make-A-Wish®, will be among the participants this year. Just like Ariane and all the other wish children, they are a source of inspiration for the event's participants. The courage, determination and resilience of these children push cyclists to give their all for 48 hours, day and night, rain or shine.
