Government of Canada provides support to youth and families in Prince Albert


PRINCE ALBERT, Sk, Sept. 11, 2018 /CNW/ - Youth are Canada's most valuable resource. However, there are many who are vulnerable, and that is why the Government of Canada makes it a priority to support preventative programming for at-risk youth.

The Honourable Scott Brison, President of the Treasury Board and Minister of Digital Government, today announced nearly $1.9 million in funding under the National Crime Prevention Strategy (NCPS) for the crime prevention project Strengthening Families Program delivered by the Prince Albert Catholic Family Services.

The Strengthening Families Program provides parents and youth with tools and skills that will help strengthen family relationships and empower at-risk youth to make positive and healthy decisions.

The project is comprised of three core components:

The project, which began its work in 2018, is expected to reach up to 150 at-risk youth and their families in Prince Albert over five years.

This announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Ralph Goodale, Minister for Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness.
