Veterans History Project and Homes For Our Troops to host Panel discussion at the Library of Congress
WASHINGTON, Sept. 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Veterans History Project at the Library of Congress, in collaboration with Homes For Our Troops (HFOT), will host a special Panel discussion on Monday, Sept. 10, 2018. The discussion, called Empowering Today's Severely Injured Veterans, will include thought leaders representing a range of services working to bridge the military-civilian divide, particularly among the severely injured Veteran population. The event will run from 12 p.m. ? 1:30 p.m. at the Library of Congress Jefferson Building, Room LJ-119, 101st St., SE, Washington, DC 20540, and the public is welcome to attend.
The Panel will be comprised of HFOT's President/CEO Brigadier General (USA, Ret.) Tom Landwermeyer, Elizabeth Dole Foundation Executive Director Steven Schwab; HFOT home recipients Army Sergeant (USA, Ret.) Steven and Samantha Curry; U.S. Chamber of Commerce and President of Hiring Our Heroes Eric Eversole, and Veteran Service Organization Liaison and Senior Advisor to the Secretary of the Veterans Administration, Jason Beardsley. Audience members can expect to learn about the daily challenges severely injured Veterans and their caregivers face, and the different institutions that have been instrumental in empowering them to find success in their personal and professional lives.
Following the Panel discussion, Homes For Our Troops will present four recorded audio interviews to be collected and preserved at The Veterans History Project (VHP) of the Library of Congress. The VHP collects, preserves, and makes accessible the personal accounts of American war Veterans so that future generations may directly hear and better understand the realities of war. The following Veterans' stories will be archived in the Veterans History Project: Army Sergeant Peter Damon, Army Sergeant Michael Downing, Marine Corporal Steven Bultje, and Army Sergeant Patrick Wickens.

About the Veterans History Project: The Veterans History Project (VHP) of the Library of Congress American Folklife Center collects and preserves the firsthand interviews and narratives of United States military Veterans from World War I through the present.
