JPMA Announces "Choose and Use" for September's Baby Safety Month Theme
MOUNT LAUREL, N.J., Sept. 5, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Most injuries can be prevented! Parents and caregivers play a huge role in protecting children from injuries. That is the potentially lifesaving message of this year's Baby Safety Month, celebrated each September by the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA).
Keeping baby safe and well is your number one goal as a parent so it goes without saying that you take every precaution when creating a safe environment. Choosing the right baby products for your family can be overwhelming, but safety should never be compromised. Be confident that you are doing everything right when it comes to your baby's safety.
Whether it's in the home or on the go, JPMA provides these tips when choosing and using baby products such as car seats, strollers, carriers, high chairs, changing tables, bouncers or swings:
- Direct supervision is the best way to prevent injuries.
- Look for potential hazards and take action to safeguard.
- Frequently inspect products for missing hardware, loose threads, screws, and strings, holes, and tears.
- For the safest product use, be sure to read and follow all manufacturer's instructions and warning labels, including minimum and maximum weight and age requirements.
- Monitor your child's growth and development and discontinue use as baby reaches the age or development limits defined by the manufacturer.
A recent poll that was conducted by BabyCenter showed that 27% of parents are not very confident that they are using their child's baby products such as car seats, strollers, cribs and bouncers correctly. 49% of parents do not read all their product manuals and 48% of parents inspect products maybe once a year or never.
