BOAZ is handcrafting cannabis in Calgary

CALGARY, Alberta, Sept. 04, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The grow lamps are on and cultivation begins in Calgary's latest state-of-the-art medical marijuana production facility. BOAZ Pharmaceuticals Inc. (BOAZ) puts Calgary on the roadmap of this province's healthy renewal and resurgence toward economic diversification. Founded by a senior executive and owner of an oil patch engineering firm, the 20,000 sq. ft. facility earned its ACMPR licensed producer status in a record 10 months and 22 days.

"My roots in oil and gas have given me the necessary people skills, the experience to turn organizations around and the ability to build successful companies from the ground up," says David Isaak, president and CEO. Isaak's core team of four homegrown heroes pulled together like a family, driven by a passionate commitment to their plants and their future patients.

BOAZ's master grower, Bill Vasilakakos, may have the "coolest job in the world":  "We cannabis growers are considered the most advanced gardeners on the planet. Nobody else will spend the money, time and effort to produce the most perfect environment for their plants as we do for cannabis." In fact, their hand crafted cannabis is hand grown, hand watered, hand trimmed and handled with care.

BOAZ prides itself on delivering an always fresh product that is non-irradiated, starting with top medicinal strains, the best clones, the purest water and organic nutrients. An uncompromising stand for quality is foundational. "I'm really proud of what we've created from scratch. I built the entire quality management system in compliance with ACMPR regulations from Health Canada," says Bethan Rider, quality assurance manager (QAP, RPIC).

At BOAZ, it's people first, and cultivating not just plants, but a culture with strong values. Assistant grower, Eli Harkinson says, "I love that we're small and we're privately owned and we're trying to disrupt the market!"

Real people and real skills: it's what has driven innovation in the oil patch in Alberta for over a century but now it is driving a new kind of oil business.

BOAZ will be introducing its first round of private media tours on September 19 and 26 for a special behind-the-scenes look at the facility. Please email requests to: [email protected]
