Palantir Foundry Enables Scuderia Ferrari Through Data

Since January 2017, Scuderia Ferrari has partnered with Palantir Technologies to make faster and more data-driven performance decisions using Palantir Foundry, Palantir's enterprise platform for data integration and analysis.

Formula 1 is famously data-driven. Each car is fitted with many sensors that measure performance and reliability, and undergoes extensive testing before reaching the track. The data generated during this process is stored in multiple systems; integrating this data for analysis requires precious engineering resources.

For Scuderia Ferrari, Palantir Foundry brings together these disparate data sources in one unified interface. Data from telemetry, car parts, simulations, test benches and driver feedback are integrated into Foundry. Instead of spending valuable time cleaning and integrating these data sources, Ferrari's factory-side and track-side engineers can focus on their critical work, using that data to make quick and informed decisions.

Palantir Foundry has enabled Scuderia Ferrari to pursue new and valuable avenues of exploration. For example:

• aerodynamic engineers can quickly test and confirm hypotheses of component performance, at scale.
• maintenance engineers can explore telemetry information, driver feedback, and manufacturer data in one platform to make data-driven maintenance recommendations.
• power unit engineers, on the race track and in the Maranello factory, can rapidly analyze the full lifecycle of an engine and instantly share their analyses with other teams.

With new regulations always on the horizon, the Foundry platform extends Scuderia Ferrari's flexibility to adapt to changing conditions by testing new ways of using data.

The partnership between Palantir and Scuderia Ferrari was officialized during last weekend's Grand Prix on the historical Monza racetrack, as the Palantir logo was unveiled on Scuderia Ferrari's F1 car.
