Danny DeSantis proudly announces his candidacy for the seat of Councillor of Ward 18 in Willowdale, Toronto
TORONTO, Aug. 30, 2018 /CNW/ - "I am a first-generation Italian-Canadian who is proud to call Willowdale my home. I was raised in Willowdale and my story is a similar one to many Canadians. My parents immigrated to Toronto from Italy without knowing the language or culture, recognizing the potential of raising a family in Willowdale. My father working in construction and mother working late hours in a warehouse provided food on the table and proper schooling for all three children," said Danny.
Danny DeSantis is a native of Willowdale having spent his entire life in this neighbourhood. He is known by many people in Willowdale through his businesses, investments and community service initiatives.
"I am not a career politician, but I am a very successful entrepreneur. Because of the great values instilled in me by my parents, I am fiscally responsible in my businesses and I want to impart these same values to my community. I decided to put my businesses aside and dedicate my time to make Willowdale better for everyone. I got into politics believing that there is a lot of "neglected" work to be done locally; we need to protect the legacy of Willowdale," said Danny.
Danny DeSantis is no stranger to the political arena, having contributed to the election campaigns of many Municipal, Provincial and Federal politicians. "There are many people currently and formerly holding very key elected positions that I have helped along the way," said Danny.
Ward 18 is in the former city of North York and comprises the neighbourhoods from Bathurst Street to Bayview Avenue and from Highway 401 to Steeles Avenue in Willowdale. Ward 18 has just over 60,000 voters who will cast their ballots on the October 22nd Toronto Municipal Election.
"Toronto's Ward 18 has suffered years of stagnation. Many citizens have become disillusioned with politics and politicians," said Danny. "There is much to be done in Ward 18 Willowdale to correct years of neglect and to improve the overall fabric of this very special place in Toronto."
