Warriors Connect with Community During Anchorage Run As One

EAGLE RIVER, Alaska, Aug. 30, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Injured veterans and their guests gathered to be a part of a Wounded Warrior Project^® (WWP) team during a 5K charity event for veterans.

"Wounded Warrior Project connected me with the Run As One event, and teamed us up to participate with other veterans," said Army veteran Luke Bushatz. "This running event also was a great way to make new connections with other veterans' organizations in our community, like Team Red, White & Blue and Team Rubicon."

WWP connects warriors with one another, their families, and communities. It serves warriors through lifesaving programs and services targeting mental and physical health, career and benefits counseling, and support for the most severely wounded.

The Run as One event raised awareness in the Anchorage community for issues important to veterans, helped those who've served renew their bonds with one another, and recognized the support of neighbors and friends. WWP partners with the organizations that started Run As One ? Team Red, White & Blue, Team Rubicon, and The Mission Continues.

"A number of warriors came in support of the event," Luke said. "These personal invites to warrior events result in great connections. My family and I were able to meet veterans and make new friends. Our team had about 30 folks from the local area."

"Wounded Warrior Project is a conduit that connects me with other veterans," Luke said. "They help me build relationships with fellow veterans who get me because of our shared experiences."
