AFGE Endorses Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick for Reelection

WASHINGTON, Aug. 29, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The American Federation of Government Employees today announced its endorsement of Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick for reelection to Congress representing Pennsylvania's new First Congressional District.

The American Federation of Government Employees, the largest union representing federal workers, has endorsed Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick for reelection to Congress representing Pennsylvania's new First Congressional District.

"Congressman Fitzpatrick has been in office for only two years, but in that time he has already proven to be a strong advocate for federal workers and the services we deliver to the American public," AFGE District 3 National Vice President Philip Glover said.

"As a member of the House Homeland Security Committee, Congressman Fitzpatrick fought to preserve federal employees' workplace rights and protections. He met with federal correctional officers and advocates to discuss needed prison safety reforms. He co-sponsored bipartisan legislation to restore due process and whistleblower rights to 360,000 working people across the Department of Veterans Affairs. He led a coalition of 21 House Republicans who called on President Trump to rescind three executive orders, since ruled illegal, that seek to gut federal employees' collective bargaining rights. And he has helped amplify our issues and concerns with members of Congress who we might not reach otherwise," Glover said.

"Public-sector employees are America's workforce, and our issues and concerns affect everyone regardless of which political party you belong to," Glover said. "Congressman Fitzpatrick is a friend of federal workers, and AFGE is proud to support his reelection this November."

More than 97,400 federal employees live in Pennsylvania ? caring for veterans, supporting the military, ensuring our food is safe to eat, and getting Social Security recipients their benefits accurately and on time.
