PHOENIX, Aug. 28, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Advisor Group, one of the nation's largest networks of independent financial advisory firms, comprised of FSC Securities Corp., Royal Alliance Associates Inc., SagePoint Financial Inc. and Woodbury Financial Services Inc., today announced that it has taken the Corporate ParityPledgetm, sponsored by Parity.org, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization focused on bringing gender equality to the highest levels of business.

Advisor Group Inc. (PRNewsfoto/Advisor Group, Inc.)

With women occupying 43 percent of its senior leadership positions, Advisor Group is determined to continue growing its workforce diversity in the most efficient and strategic way possible. In taking this pledge, Advisor Group is publicly committing to interviewing at least one qualified woman candidate for every open position at the vice president level and above.

"Advisor Group is proud to count seven women among its leadership team of 16 executives, and also supports hundreds of successful female advisors nationwide," said Jamie Price, President & CEO. "We appreciate the diverse and valuable perspectives these female professionals bring and, in signing the ParityPledgetm, solidify our commitment to advancing their inclusion and advancement in the workplace. Advisor Group stands firmly in its employees' and its advisors' corners."

The ParityPledgetm represents just the latest step Advisor Group has taken to ensure that women financial advisors are encouraged to pursue, and advance within, the profession. Advisor Group's Women Forward initiative seeks to attract, develop and nurture women financial advisors through programs that are innovative and actionable ? including a mentorship program; its W Pulse podcast series, created by women and for women; W Forum, its annual women's conference; and a partnership with The W Sourcetm, a nationwide networking organization for female professionals.

"Parity.org was founded to correct the stark reality of gender imbalance at the very top of companies today," said Cathrin Stickney, Parity.org founder and CEO. "While women represent 51 percent of the population, barely 20 percent of S&P 500 corporate executive teams and boards are represented by women."

"We are thankful for organizations like Advisor Group that are willing to become a role model for change," she added. "We believe their public commitment and example will help us realize exponential progress toward reaching parity at the top."
