Registration Opens for 2018 Eastern District of Texas Bench Bar Conference


PLANO, Texas, Aug. 23, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Official registration has begun for the 2018 Eastern District of Texas Bench Bar Conference, which is being held in conjunction with The Center for American and International Law's Patent Trial and Appeal Board Bench Bar Conference.

Attorney Clyde Siebman of East Texas-based Siebman, Forrest, Burg & Smith is the 2018 Chairman of the 22nd annual EDTX Bench Bar Conference, which is set for October 17-19 at the Marriott Legacy Town Center in Plano. The EDTX Bench Bar Conference will feature a keynote address by Andrei Iancu, the U.S. Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Mr. Iancu's presentation will take place on October 18 at the Inaugural Texas Dinner in Honor of the Judiciary and the 7th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

"We are excited to partner with The Center for American and International Law for what we expect will be one of our most successful Bench Bar conferences," says Mr. Siebman, who previously served four different terms as President of the Eastern District of Texas Bar Association.

The event is one of the largest of its kind nationally, bringing together practicing lawyers, respected judges, and industry experts from across the globe to discuss the latest issues in patent law and intellectual property. Conference topics also will include Corporate Cyber Threats, Qui Tam litigation, Trade Secret Theft and Protection, and many others.

Chief Judge Rodney Gilstrap and other judges from the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas are scheduled to participate in the conference, along with Joseph Brown, the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Texas, and other prosecutors from his office.

Additional judges from Texas and across the U.S. who are also scheduled to participate include, among others, Chief Judge Carl E. Stewart of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit; Chief Judge Sharon Prost of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit; and Chief Judge Barbara M.G. Lynn of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.

In addition to members of the judiciary and private practice attorneys, the conference also will include participation from general counsel and in-house counsel from some of the world's leading companies.
