Kingsland University Beats Out Over 70 Nations in 2018 Tech Startup of the Year Stevie® Business Awards

ATLANTA, Aug. 17, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Kingsland University - School of Blockchain was named the winner of an international Stevie® Award in the Tech Startup of the Year - Services category at the 15th Annual International Business Awards® today. Judges hailed Kingsland University's model as including "great concepts" that drive innovation and address public misconceptions about blockchain technology.

"The company clearly has shown its abilities by capturing the first mover advantage and growth through targeting a growing market," judges commented. "Knowledge is power and technologies like blockchain will define the future. Great job in creating an ecosystem where [the] knowledge hungry can get trained and lead the future."

The International Business Awards are the world's premier business awards program. All individuals and organizations worldwide ? public and private, for-profit and non-profit, large and small - are eligible to submit nominations. The 2018 IBAs received entries from 74 nations and territories.

"Being recognized for our diligence in revolutionizing education - especially among the other nominees in the category - is a high honor," said Kingsland Founder & CEO, John Souza, who also won a Stevie® Award in the Innovator of the Year category this year. "This is only the beginning for Kingsland. These awards will serve as cornerstones in our foundation as we continue to build up and secure the future of blockchain."

Nicknamed the Stevies for the Greek word for "crowned," the awards will be presented to winners at a gala awards banquet at the InterContinental London Park Lane Hotel in London, England on 20 October.

"This year's Stevie Award winners in the IBAs are the most distinguished group of winners we've had yet," said Michael Gallagher, president and founder of the Stevie Awards. "We raised the minimum average score from the judges required to qualify as a Stevie winner, so 2018 winners should be especially proud of their achievements."

Stevie Award winners were determined by the average scores of more than 270 executives worldwide who participated on 12 juries.
