Hydro-Québec renews its confidence in AddEnergie for another extension of the Electric Circuit

QUÉBEC, Aug. 14, 2018 /CNW Telbec/ - AddEnergie is proud to have won a call for proposals from Hydro-Québec to supply 50 kW fast-charging stations for the Electric Circuit, thus continuing its participation in the development of the first public charging network for electric vehicles in Quebec.

This is the fourth call for proposals from the state-owned enterprise won by AddEnergie. Since 2013, AddEnergie has provided the Electric Circuit with nearly 1,500 charging stations, as well as contributing to network operations through its support teams and network management software.

This partnership has enabled AddEnergie to develop a model and expertise that the company shares today with several other Canadian and North American electric utilities wishing to become involved in the electrification of transportation.

"We are honored that Hydro-Québec once again chooses to trust AddEnergie. The award of this new contract demonstrates our ability to meet the needs of electric utilities and work with them for the deployment of large scale charging infrastructure. We hope that Hydro-Québec will continue to inspire other organizations to invest in the electrification of transportation, and we will be ready to offer them our support and expertise," says Louis Tremblay, President and Chief Executive Officer of AddEnergie.

Over the past year, AddEnergie's technology has, among other things, enabled the roll-out of the eCharge Network, a provincial network operated by NB Power in New Brunswick. AddEnergie has also worked with ATCO (Alberta), Nova Scotia Power (Nova Scotia), Fortis BC (British Columbia), BC Hydro (British Columbia), Hydro Ottawa (Ontario) and Green Mountain Power (Vermont), among others, on various public, private and residential charging infrastructure projects. The company also operates its own charging network, FLO, which is present throughout Canada.

AddEnergie today manages a fleet of more than 5,000 commercial charging stations coast to coast, including more than 200 fast charging stations, which offer a reliability rate of more than 99%.

As part of this new expansion phase of the Electric Circuit, AddEnergie will adapt its network management platform to integrate the stations of another provider of electric vehicle charging infrastructure selected by Hydro-Québec. This integration will be realized using the Open Charge Point Protocol (OCPP), an open protocol allowing the management of stations of various manufacturers under the same charging network.

AddEnergie supports and advocates the use of open protocols, which benefit both owners of charging stations and drivers of electric vehicles. In particular, the company set the pace in this area by creating its own Open Network Protocol-Intranetworking (ONP-I) protocol in 2009, offered on an open basis, which allows the integration of the stations produced by AddEnergie into the management systems of third parties.

About AddEnergie
AddEnergie is a North American leader in electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions. Founded in 2009, the company manufactures charging stations and develops network management software for all markets (residential, commercial, public). AddEnergie's headquarters and network operations centre are based in Quebec City, and all products are assembled at its factory in Shawinigan (Quebec). The company also has regional offices in Montreal (Quebec), Mississauga (Ontario), Vancouver (British Columbia), San Francisco (California) and New York (New York).
