National Safety Council Honors Texas Employers with Traffic Safety Awards

ITASCA, Ill., Aug. 9, 2018 /PRNewswire/ --Today the National Safety Council recognized 13 Texas employers with Texas Employer Traffic Safety Awards through its Our Driving Concern program. The awards are presented each year to Texas employers who demonstrate an extraordinary commitment to traffic safety.  Since 2014, Our Driving Concern officials have presented the Texas Employer Traffic Safety Awards in partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation.

The 10 recipients were recognized at the Texas A&M Transportation Institute Conference in Sugar Land. The three Honorable Mention award recipients will receive plaques suitable for public display.

"In Texas, someone is hurt every two minutes, and someone is killed every two hours, in a preventable car crash," said Deborah A.P. Hersman, president and CEO of the National Safety Council. "The data shows the importance of working together to keep everyone safe, and employers have a critical role. We are pleased to see these Texas companies leading the way, and we are proud to recognize them for their efforts."

Award recipients range from businesses with as few as 40 employees to as many as 20,757, and from nonprofits to municipal organizations. Employee education, training and other activities centered on traffic safety were considered in the evaluation process of applicants.

This year, three Texas employers went above and beyond to earn "exemplary" distinction:
