Media Advisory - Governor General to Attend the Funeral of Paul Gérin-Lajoie

OTTAWA, Aug. 8, 2018 /CNW/ - Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette, Governor General of Canada, will attend the funeral of Paul Gérin-Lajoie. The service will take place at the Marie Queen of the World Cathedral of Montréal on Thursday, August 9, 2018, at 11 a.m.

Mr. Gérin-Lajoie was invested Companion of the Order of Canada in 1980, in recognition of his distinguished services to his country, chiefly as president of the Canadian International Development Agency from 1970 to 1977, and as deputy premier and minister of education of the Government of Québec from 1960 to 1966.
