Cerebras Systems Continues Rapid Expansion: Former Intel Executive Dhiraj Mallick to Lead Engineering and Business Development

LOS ALTOS, Calif., Aug. 8, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Cerebras Systems announced today that Dhiraj Mallick, former CTO and Vice President of Architecture and Pathfinding for Intel's Data Center Group, has joined Cerebras Systems as Vice President of Engineering and Business Development.

Dhiraj Mallick, Vice President of Engineering and Business Development

Mallick comes to Cerebras with more than 20 years of executive leadership experience with Intel, AMD and startups SeaMicro and NexGen. During his tenure at Intel, their Data Center business grew to almost $20 billion.

Mallick is a catalytic hire for Cerebras, as it rapidly expands its engineering organization to deliver on its bid for dominance in the AI acceleration space. "Dhiraj's experience directing large, high-performing engineering teams in disruptive markets makes him a powerful fit for this phase of growth at Cerebras," says Andrew Feldman, co-founder and CEO of Cerebras Systems. "Few people in the industry have led more successful processor projects or built more data center systems."

In addition to bringing significant large-enterprise experience and rigor, Mallick is no stranger to the pace and organizational needs of a startup. Prior to Intel, he worked with the founders of Cerebras at their last company, SeaMicro. As its Vice President of Engineering, he headed the development of its fabric-based compute and storage system.

When SeaMicro was acquired in 2012 by AMD for $357M, Mallick led strategy, product development, operations, marketing and sales as AMD's Corporate Vice President and General Manager of the Server Solutions business. He is also a frequent keynote speaker at leading technology events and serves as an advisor to several venture-backed companies.

Mr. Mallick will spearhead the Cerebras engineering team to continue the expansion and innovation needed to disrupt the marketplace.  Additionally, he will utilize his industry relationships to deepen customer engagements and build strategic partnerships.

"Cerebras is taking the most ambitious approach I've seen to accelerating AI, and has built an extraordinary team," says Mallick. "We have an opportunity to transform the compute landscape and I look forward to helping Cerebras deliver on this vision. I'm excited to join the Cerebras team and help define the future of AI."
