Sustainability runs deep at Prime Pubs across Canada

Zero plastic straws and cocktails with a conscience, just two of the latest initiatives

VAUGHAN, ON, Aug. 7, 2018 /CNW/ - Prime Pubs is very happy to announce that plastic straws have been completely eliminated from all Pubs locations across Canada including Fionn MacCool's, D'Arcy McGee's, Paddy Flaherty's and Tír nan Òg. Effective today, paper straws will be available, but only upon request.

"Pubs are built on the foundation of community where people come together to create positive, meaningful connections," explains Grant Cobb, senior vice president, Prime Pubs. "We're constantly looking for creative ways to give back, do the right thing and dig our community roots even deeper. Sustainability is a natural part of that."

At Prime Pubs acting responsibly means eliminating single-use plastics, sourcing from farmers we know, and establishing charitable programs like Pints for Philanthropy, where 10 cents from every daily featured pour goes to a local charity.

Cocktails with a Conscience is another way Prime Pubs reduces waste. Drinks like Kitchen Sink Caesar and Green Goddess Margarita are made with quality ingredients like celery trimmings, tomato tops and bottoms, and cilantro or mint stems.

"We've had a lot of fun creating these specialty recipes that are sustainably satisfying," says Nathan Cameron, director, beverage with Recipe Unlimited Corporation. "These drinks are delicious and ensure every ounce of goodness goes into our bellies and not into landfill."
