Dairy Queen's Miracle Treat Day: 16 years of making miracles happen

Proceeds to support local Children's Miracle Network member hospitals across the country

TORONTO, July 26, 2018 /CNW/ - Blizzard Treats are meant to be eaten, but on Thursday, August 9, they will do more. Dairy Queen Canada is encouraging Canadians to continue the 16-year tradition of making miracles happen by taking part in Miracle Treat Day. On this day, net proceeds from Blizzard Treats sales at participating Dairy Queen locations will be donated to the 14 Children's Miracle Network member hospitals across Canada.

Sixty-two children enter a Children's Miracle Network hospital every minute, and these hospitals rely on community donations to ensure each child receives the best possible care. Year after year, hundreds of Dairy Queen employees, franchisees, executives and celebrities unite on Miracle Treat Day to raise funds benefiting children being treated in their own backyard.

"Dairy Queen's Miracle Treat Day is a favourite among Canadians from coast to coast," said Mark Hierlihy, President & CEO Canada's Children's Hospital Foundations and Children's Miracle Network. "The collaboration that takes place between franchisees and children's hospitals is so inspiring and results in millions of dollars raised for our kids. We're grateful for this partnership with Dairy Queen Canada and to Canadians for their enthusiastic support of this annual tradition."

Since the partnership between Dairy Queen Canada and Children's Miracle Network began in 1984, Dairy Queen has become a top contributor with $135 million raised to-date in support of sick and injured children across North America.

"At Dairy Queen, we are passionate about supporting the children in the communities we serve daily," said Candida Ness, Senior Director of Marketing, Dairy Queen Canada. "Our franchisees work tirelessly year-round to raise funds for their local Children's Miracle Network hospitals. We appreciate all they do to make Miracle Treat Day a success, and we know this year will be no exception."
