PALO ALTO, Calif., July 19, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, the premier provider of legal services to technology, life sciences, and growth enterprises worldwide, is pleased to announce that Lora M. Green's tenure as an administrative patent judge at the USPTO began in 2001. Since the passage of the America Invents Act, Green has been one of the most active judges at the PTAB in handling post-grant review proceedings, such as inter partes reviews, covering life sciences-related patents. Since their inception, Green has been involved in over 350 post-grant proceedings and authored numerous decisions?some of which have been formally designated by the PTAB as informative of proper practice before the Board.

From 2011 to 2017, Green served as lead administrative patent judge. In that role, in addition to her ongoing APJ responsibilities, she supervised APJs who decided ex parte appeals, managed post-grant review proceedings, and mentored judges new to post-grant proceedings. Green has also represented the Board at various conferences, such as the PTAB Bar Association Conference held in Washington D.C. in March of 2018.

"PTAB continues to be one of the busiest jurisdictions in the U.S. for patentability challenges and our firm has one of the most active practices in the U.S., so we have sought to bring on experienced patent practitioners as we've grown our PTAB team," said Michael Rosato, a partner at WSGR who leads the firm's PTAB practice. "Over her long and accomplished term as an APJ, Lora acquired substantial insight into a broad range of complex IP subject matter, particularly in the biotech and pharma areas, which makes her a tremendous asset to the clients our PTAB team represents. We are very pleased that Lora has joined the firm."

Before serving as an APJ, Green was a judicial law clerk to the Honorable William C. Bryson at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Prior to her clerkship, Green worked as a patent examiner in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for six years and she was a post-doctoral fellow at The University of Maryland.

Green earned her J.D. from George Washington University Law School in 1998. She graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a Ph.D. in chemistry in 1990. She earned a B.S. in chemistry from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1985.

WSGR's post-grant practice is nationally recognized as a leader for representing petitioners and patent owners before the PTAB. The firm has been ranked among the top firms acting on behalf of petitioners and patent owners before the PTAB. The firm has also been highly ranked among law firms and corporate legal departments that represented litigants inter partes review, covered business method, or post-grant review proceedings at the PTAB.
